Evergreen Little League to celebrate opening day at new park

Vancouver, WA – Come celebrate the start of Evergreen Little League’s 2009 season at Hockinson Meadows Community Park on Saturday, April 11.

The Little League’s opening day event will feature baseball and softball games from 8 a.m. to dusk, and a special opening ceremony at 10 a.m. Admission is free. Evergreen Little League will sell refreshments all day to help benefit its youth sports programs.

Hockinson Meadows Community Park is located at 10910 NE 172nd Ave., south of 119th Street. The park has been under construction since July 2008. Construction of the sports fields, access roads and pathways, main parking lot, portable restroom facilities, and some picnic tables and benches is complete.

The rest of the park will remain closed to protect the public during construction. Some areas will be fenced off to allow newly planted grass to grow. The remaining park features, including trails, a playground, picnic shelter and second parking lot, are scheduled to be complete this summer.
